About Nancy

Civic Engagement

Nancy Ford was elected to Arvada City Council in 2015 and advocates for her constituents in District 1. She represents Council on the following committees and boards:

  • Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities
  • Arvada Fire Protection District Coordinating Committee
  • Arvada Municipal Court/Judicial Committee
  • Arvada Visitors' Center Committee
  • Arvada Sustainability Committee
  • Historic Olde Town Arvada Board

Prior to being on Council, Nancy served on the:

  • Citizens’ Capital Improvement Project Committee (2014-2015)
  • Arvada Sustainability Advisory Committee (2011-2015, Chair 2013-2015)
  • Arvada Sustainability Working Group (2010-2011),

and participated in the development/revision of the Arvada Park System Master Plan, Comprehensive Plan, and other City vision documents.

Family

Nancy and Jim, her husband of 36 years, moved to Colorado in 1989 and have been living in Arvada for 9 years.  Jim is a civil engineer and works for the City of Black Hawk as their Water Resource Engineer. They share their home with their toy poodle, Teddy, and enjoy riding motorcycles together.

Profession

Nancy is a market researcher, adjunct professor, and artist.  In 1995, she founded her market research company, Ford Research Group, LLC, and designs studies for small to large businesses, governments, and non-profit organizations.


As an educator, Nancy has taught multiple college-level business and arts classes.  She recently taught creative problem-solving at Metropolitan State University of Denver and has taught textile construction at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. Nancy completed her Ph.D. in 1999 from the University of Wyoming.
